A. Contact the financial aid office at your school to determine your eligibility for additional federal financial aid. (9/27)
SP 4. I did not originally file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). However, due to Hurricane Rita, my financial condition has now changed. Can I qualify for federal financial aid for this year?
A. You may be eligible to qualify for federal financial aid for this year. Contact the financial aid office at your school for assistance in determining your eligibility for federal financial aid and filling out the FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. (9/27)
SP 5. I am filling out my 2005-2006 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) but dont have access to tax information. Where can I get this information if my records were lost?
A. The tax information required for the FAFSA can be obtained directly from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) through an expedited service created for those impacted by the hurricane. To obtain tax information over the phone, contact the IRS at (800) 829-1040, choose the "personal tax account" option, and follow their instructions.
A. You cannot directly transfer federal student aid that was awarded to you by one school to another; however your new school can award you financial aid based on the original FAFSA you submitted. To receive aid from a new school, the first thing you need to do is to contact the financial aid office at the new school and let them know that you are interested in attending. While you don’t need to fill out a new FAFSA, you do need to have the new school added to your FAFSA record so that the new school receives your FAFSA information. The best way to do this is to call 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). After receiving your FAFSA information, the new school will provide you with information about your eligibility at that school.
