Subject: Live Internet Webinar - Cash Management Regulations

Summary: This letter announces an instructor-led, online training session that will provide information about the recently published cash management regulations. The webinar will be offered twice in February 2016.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce an upcoming webinar that will provide institutions with information about the final cash management regulations that were published October 30, 2015, and will become effective July 1, 2016. The regulations, in addition to other provisions that will be covered in the webinar, establish tougher standards and greater transparency surrounding agreements between postsecondary institutions and other entities in the rapidly expanding college financial products marketplace.

The webinar will provide an overview about why these regulatory changes were necessary and will explain, in detail, the new requirements for institutions, including the limitations on fees that can be charged to students, disclosure requirements, and limitations on sharing private student information.

Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) staff will present this webinar in one 90-minute session, offered on two separate occasions:

  • Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. (ET)
  • Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. (ET).

Note: There may be a difference between a trainee's local time and Eastern Time. To determine local time and its Eastern Time zone equivalent, click on this link:

Advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. If viewing as a group, only one person from the group needs to register.

To register for the webinar, click on this link:

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar.

We look forward to your participation in this instructor-led, online training opportunity.

Sincerely,

Federal Student Aid
