Subject: Live Internet Webinar - Direct Loan Reconciliation and Program Year Closeout: Start to Finish

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid’s instructor-led, online training session that provides an overview of the Direct Loan reconciliation and closeout processes.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce instructor-led, online training that will focus on the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program reconcilation and program year closeout processes. This webinar will provide a complete overview of the monthly Direct Loan reconciliation process and end-of-year closeout activities. The emphasis of the training will be on Direct Loan reports, tools, and resources available to assist schools in reconciling and closing out in a timely manner.

This training is intended for financial aid and business office staff who have Direct Loan reconcilation and closeout responsiblities and for staff wishing to increase their Direct Loan knowledge base. Staff who are new to financial aid or new to the Direct Loan Program will benefit from this training.

We will present this information in a one hour session offered on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 12:00 P.M. (ET) and again on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. (ET).

Note: There may be a difference between a trainee’s local time and Eastern Time. To determine local time and its Eastern Time zone equivalent, click on this link:

Advance registration is required for this training and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To allow for as many participants as possible, we strongly encourage groups to view the webinar from a single location if accommodations allow. If viewing as a group, only one person from the group needs to register.

To register for the webinar, click on this link:

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.

We look forward to your participation in this instructor-led, online training opportunity. If you have questions about this training opportunity, please contact Craig Rorie at craig.rorie@ed.gov.
