Summary: This letter announces a suite of Federal Student Aid instructor-led, online training sessions on Direct Loans. We first offered this webinar suite in the fall of 2009, and again in January and February 2010. We will once again offer the webinar suite in April and May 2010.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce a suite of instructor-led, online training sessions on the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. The webinar training suite consists of six different 90-minute sessions related to key aspects of Direct Loan processing. We first offered this webinar suite in the fall of 2009, and again in January and February 2010. We will once again offer the webinar suite in April and May 2010, to provide ample opportunity for those interested in attending. There is no cost to attend this training series.

The Direct Loan webinar training suite consists of the following sessions:

  • Direct Loan Processing in COD for New Participants

  • Direct Loan Programmatic Primer

  • Direct Loan Systems Primer

  • Direct Loan Reconciliation

  • Direct Loan Tools

  • Direct Loan Reports

Target Audience and Topic Information for All Webinars

We provide target audience and topic information for each of the six 90-minute webinar training suite sessions in the attachment to this letter titled "Direct Loan Webinar Training Suite Session Descriptions."

Schedule and Registration Information for All Webinars

Advance registration is required for each Direct Loan webinar training suite session and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To view schedule information and register, click on this link:

General Information for All Webinars

In the attachment to this letter titled "Direct Loan Webinar Training Suite Session Schedule and Registration Information," the start time for each session is shown as Eastern Time. There may be a difference between a trainee’s local time and Eastern Time. To determine local time and its Eastern Time zone equivalent, click on this link:

Once registered, we will send an e-mail confirmation to the trainee. The trainee should retain this confirmation, as it contains important information, including linking and log in information for the Web site, system test links, and cancellation information. If unable to attend, we request that the trainee cancel his or her registration so that individuals who wish to attend may do so.

PowerPoint slides will be available for each trainee to download after he or she signs in to the webinar. Trainees may sign in and access the training materials one hour prior to the start of each webinar. During the webinar, trainees will be able to ask questions electronically using their computers.
