Subject: Live Internet Webinars - Delinquency and Default Management Webinar Conference

Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's two-day series of instructor-led, online training sessions that will assist schools with developing an effective default prevention plan.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce a two-day instructor-led, online training conference related to key aspects of managing student loan delinquency and default. The series of sessions will assist schools with understanding which borrowers are defaulting and why, and how to use this important information to build an effective default prevention strategy. The conference series is suitable for all staff with a responsibility and interest in managing default aversion activities.

We will present this information during six separate webinar sessions conducted over a two-day period from Tuesday, April 24 to Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Day 1 of the webinar conference will include the following sessions:

  • Default Prevention– Everybody's Business, 10:30 A.M. to Noon (ET): From managers to front line employees, default management is the responsibility of the entire campus. This session will educate all key institutional stakeholders of the role they play in this process.

  • Identifying Default Risks & Developing a Plan– Working with the Default Prevention Team, 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. (ET): This session will introduce Federal Student Aid's Default Prevention Team and discuss the steps needed to identify default risks at your school and how to make effective use of the information as part of your default prevention plan.

  • Default Management– Working with the Federal Loan Servicers, 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. (ET): This session will help schools understand the role of the servicers and learn more about the default prevention products and services offered.

Day 2 of the webinar conference will include the following sessions:

  • Reports– NSLDS School Portfolio, 10:30 A.M. to Noon (ET): This session will focus on how to keep up with your school's loan portfolio using the NSLDS School Portfolio Report (SCHPR1), which provides details on borrowers and loans.

  • Reports– NSLDS Delinquency, 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. (ET): This session will discuss default prevention using delinquent borrower data found in the NSLDS Delinquent Borrower Report (DELQ01).

  • Manipulating NSLDS Reports, 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. (ET): This session will show how to use the NSLDS School Portfolio and Delinquency record layouts to import the data into desktop application software so additional manipulation and analysis can be performed.
