Subject: OUTAGE ALERT - Federal Student Aid Web Site and System Outages Scheduled for September 9, 2012

On Sunday, September 9, 2012, we plan to execute extended system maintenance and operating system upgrades that will impact several Federal Student Aid Web sites and systems. This work is in addition to the regular weekly maintenance that occurs each weekend.

This announcement provides information about the systems and Web sites that will be affected during the extended maintenance period. Please review the information in this announcement and evaluate the impact on your school or organization during the period when the affected Web sites will be unavailable.

Web Site Impact from 12:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. (ET) Sunday, September 9, 2012

From 12:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. (ET) on Sunday, September 9, 2012, users will be unable to access many of our Web sites. Users attempting to access an impacted Web site during this period will receive an error message informing them that the page cannot be found or that the site is unavailable due to maintenance.

  • CPS Web Applications Demo System (FAA Access to CPS Online Demo and FAFSA Demo)

  • Direct Loan Consolidation

  • FAA Access to CPS Online (including ISIR Analysis Tool and R2T4 on the Web)

  • FAFSA on the Web

  • Federal Student Aid PIN

  • National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Student Access

  • Student Aid Internet Gateway Enrollment

COD Batch Processing Suspension and Web Site Outage Information

In addition to the outage period explained above, we will suspend COD batch processing from 12:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. (ET) on Sunday, September 9, 2012. Records submitted during this time will be held and processed after 3:00 P.M. (ET) on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

Accordingly, between 12:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. (ET) on Sunday, September 9, 2012—

  • Users will not be able to submit or retrieve data via the COD Web site.

  • Users will not be able to access the COD Reports area of the COD Web site.

  • An individual will not be able to complete online Direct Loan Entrance Counseling, complete a new Master Promissory Note (MPN) electronically, complete a Direct PLUS Loan Request electronically, endorse a Direct PLUS Loan electronically, or view loan correspondence via the StudentLoans.gov Web site.

  • An individual will not be able to complete TEACH Grant Initial and Subsequent Counseling, complete a new TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve (ATS), or retrieve an existing ATS via the TEACH Grant Web site.

We apologize for the inconvenience these outages may cause and appreciate your patience as we complete these important upgrades.
