Subject: OUTAGE ALERT – Federal Student Aid Website and System Outages November 15-18, 2019

During the period November 15-18, 2019, we plan to complete important system work that will impact the website and the Default Resolution Group contact center. Additionally, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) will be unavailable for an extended period of time over the same weekend. This work is in addition to the regular weekly maintenance that occurs each weekend.

Information about the specific outage periods is provided below. Please have the appropriate individuals at your school or organization review the information in advance of the outage periods.

November 15-18, 2019 Outage

The website will be unavailable from 6 p.m. Eastern time (ET) on Friday, November 15, 2019 until 7 a.m. ET on Monday, November 18, 2019. In addition, the Default Resolution Group contact center will close at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, November 15, 2019 and will not reopen until 8 a.m. ET on Monday, November 18, 2019.

November 16-17, 2019 IRS DRT Outage

The IRS DRT will be unavailable from midnight ET on Saturday, November 16, 2019 until 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, November 17, 2019, as the IRS completes critical system upgrades. During this outage period, users may access, the myStudentAid mobile app, and However, if an action requires entry of federal tax information, the tax information will need to be provided manually. Applicants may wish to complete the application after the outage is over.
