RE: Tip of the Week: Using "Current Date" as a Query Value
This week's tip highlights a specific feature or process in the EDExpress software: Using
"Current Date" as a Query Value
Process: In the 1998-99 EDExpress software, users have the ability to query on the value
of "Current Date" for any 8-byte date field. To use, select the appropriate module and
the date field you wish to query on under Tools/Query. For "Query Value" enter
"CURRDATE" (current date). When you run the query, EDExpress will look for the
specified date field and filter for those records containing the current day's date.
Why you should use it: By using "CURRDATE", you only have to create one query
that can be used multiple times instead of creating a new query for each date you want
to query for. For example, if you want a list of all students you printed award letters for
each day you print, you can create a query for "Award Letter Mailed Date" equal to
"CURRDATE" and print your list using this query.
