On June 12, 2019, the U.S. Department of Education published a notice in the Federal Register proposing to amend the regulations governing the Department’s recognition of accrediting agencies.

The Secretary also proposes to amend the Student Assistance General Provisions regulations to revise the State authorization requirements for institutions offering distance education or correspondence courses and remove the regulations related to the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program, which has not been funded in many years.
