Subject: 2018-2019 Application Processing System Specifications for Software Developers (September 2017)

Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the posting of the revised draft Application Processing System Specifications for Software Developers for the 2018-2019 cycle.

In this version of the specifications, we corrected the Business/Farm Net Worth Adjustment table (in Step 5 of the “EFC Formula 2 – Independent Without Dependents Other Than a Spouse” section) to add a missing row for the Student’s Net Worth of Business/Farm value range of 1-130,000.

Please note the following:

  • Testing of these specifications will not be complete until October 2017. Software developers should be prepared to receive updates to the specifications until that time.

  • Draft 2018-2019 Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) layouts are included in the draft 2018-2019 EDE Technical Reference, which is available now on the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) website.

In addition to its current availability on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) website, the specifications will also be available in the next several days from the FSAdownload website, located at https://fsadownload.ed.gov.
