OUTAGE ALERT – Federal Student Aid Website and System Outages Sept. 13 and Sept. 19–20, 2020

On Sept. 13 and again on Sept. 19–20, 2020, we plan to complete important system work that will impact many Federal Student Aid websites and systems. This work is in addition to the regular weekly maintenance that occurs each weekend.

Information about the specific outage periods is provided below. Please have the appropriate individuals at your school or organization review the information in advance of the outage periods.

Sept. 13, 2020 FSA ID Outage

From 1 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern time (ET) on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, users will be unable to access functionality that requires an FSA ID. This means that users will be unable to log in or create an account when accessing StudentAid.gov, fafsa.gov, and the myStudentAid mobile app. Users attempting to sign in or create an account during this outage period will see an outage message and will be prevented from accessing the functionality.

Sept. 19-20, 2020 AIMS Outage

From 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 19 until 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, financial aid professional users will be unable to access the websites and systems behind our Access and Identity Management System (AIMS).

The systems and websites that are behind AIMS are the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) website, Electronic Cohort Default Rate Appeals (eCDR Appeals), FAA Access to CPS Online, National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Professional Access, Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) Enrollment, and the EDconnect software.

Additional Information for EDconnect Users:

  • During the outage period, EDconnect software users will not be able to transmit files via the SAIG. EDconnect users attempting to transmit files during the outage period will receive an error message informing them that the SAIG is unavailable. Data must be transmitted at a later time, after the outage is complete.

We apologize for the inconvenience these outages may cause and appreciate your patience as we complete these important upgrades.
