2010-2011 Federal Student Aid Handbook Errata and Updates

Application and Verification Guide
P. 108. The phone number for the OIG regional office in Atlanta was updated to (404) 974-9430.
P. 110. In the first paragraph under "The confirmation process," the parenthetical phrase containing "Chapter 2" corrected to "Volume 4."
Volume 1: Student Eligibility
P. 1-77. In the parenthetical phrase in the middle of the page, "Chapter 5" corrected to "Chapter 6."
Volume 4: Processing Aid and Managing Federal Student Aid Funds
The following correction was not made to the print edition of the Handbook, and also is not reflected in the PDF files for Volume 4.
Errata Posted April 7, 2011 - P. 4-41. Regarding the heading and following text under Returning funds on Direct Loans and FFEL Loans purchased by the Department ‒ The instructions are correct for FFEL Loans, they are wrong for Direct Loans.
When returning Direct Loan funds, even if more than 120 days have elapsed since the disbursement date, schools should always return the funds through G5.
Volume 5: Overawards, Overpayments, & Withdrawal Calculations
The following correction was not made to the print edition of the Handbook, and also is not reflected in the PDF files for Volume 5.
Errata Posted April 7, 2011 - P. 5-134. As noted for 4-41, schools should always return Direct Loan funds through G5, even if more than 120 days have elapsed since the disbursement date.
