Part 1: Participants will learn the theory, principles, and components of the Congressional Methodology need analysis formulas and how the EFC forms the foundation of a student's eligibility for student aid. Emphasis will be placed on how an understanding of the formulas assists in counseling families, anticipating how changes to income, family size, and assets affect the computation of the EFC, and how an understanding of the methodology can help in making professional judgment decisions.
